This Christmas, will you play your part and help protect bursaries?
You'll already be aware...
I’m sure you’re already aware that 20% VAT is being added to school fees in January 2025. As a School we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact on parents - in fact we have pledged not to pass on more than 10% of the VAT to families. This is a significant burden for us as a School. But more importantly, it’s still a significant increase in costs for families, many of whom are already making huge sacrifices for their children’s education.
We expect this Christmas will be a time of significant concern for lots of families having to make tough decisions that will affect their children forever. No one wants to interrupt their child’s education by taking them away from the School that helps them fulfil their potential at a key stage in their education.
Give the Gift of a Wells Cathedral School Education
Wells already supports 1 in 6 children at our School with means-tested bursaries. We do everything we can with the money we have available to support families. But it’s a finite pot and the need for financial help is growing. We need your help. Will you give the gift of a Wells Cathedral School education this Christmas?
The Role of Bursaries in Providing Support
Bursaries change the lives of children - like Eli - from ordinary, hard-working homes, whose parents know that Wells is the best place for them to thrive. Read Eli's story HERE.
We have a proud history of providing bursaries for those in need, thanks in part to the generosity of the Wellensian community. You - or someone you know - may have benefited from grants and bursaries to attend Wells.
Now we need to ask for your help.
I do not believe we should ever underestimate the ability of young people...
