On Saturday, 10th October, we were delighted to catch up with Nurry Lee, a talented OW who left school twelve years ago in 2014. It was a particularly special occasion, as this was Nurry’s first visit back to the school since she left, and it was wonderful to welcome her back to perform at Cedars Hall in the Sparks Recital.
Nurry treated us to a full programme which included all seven movements of The Nutcracker Suite arranged by Pletnev. She took the whole audience along with her, so much so that we just couldn't help ourselves and applauded between a couple of the movements rather than waiting for the correct time at the end! The evening was a joy from the start and left us all wanting more. Nurry was beautiful to watch and listen to, her playing drawing us all into every piece.
After leaving School, Nurry went to the Royal College of Music where she met and began playing with violinist Sophie Louis Philips and cellist Meera Priyanka Raja, forming Trio Rouge. The trio has enjoyed some wonderful opportunities, including work for BBC Radio 3. Nurry also works at various Music festivals around the world, teaching piano and performing. Having worked in Hungary, she is due to visit Bali in the next few months.
After the concert, Nurry headed back to London to be picked up at 3am the next morning to catch a flight to play at New York's Carnegie Hall that day. Such is her career. We were delighted she was able to come here and perform at School and wish her every success as she goes from strength to strength.
