Oliver Davis (2014) has been appointed as Principal Horn of the Lapin Kamariorkesteri (Lapland Chamber Orchestra).

Oli was a Specialist Musician here in his latter School years, having started learning with Simon de Souza when he was only 8 years old. While at Wells he performed Richard Strauss' First Horn Concerto with the Symphony Orchestra in the Cathedral before going on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London and then undertaking postgraduate studies on the continent.

His trial period for the Lapin Kammariorkesteri, or Lapland Chamber Orchestra, lasted four months, at the end of which time he was appointed as Principal Horn, a tremendous achievement.

It's wonderful to see another former Wells pupil doing so well and joining the long list of Wells musical alumni succeeding in the highly competitive world of professional music. Oli credits the time he spent at Wells and the opportunities and training he received as being central to his progress into the profession.
